I think changing the name of the university from Metropolitan to Carnegie is a very unwise decision. Leeds Met has an established name, its easy to remember and it sounds a lot better than Carnegie. I might also say that this is the least of your worries with the union going bust and significant problems with university structuring, courses that fail to teach students correctly etc. rebranding thousands of documents, posters, signs, vehicles, etc is going to cost money that could be better spent else where. My course for example is an absolute joke. Myself and several other students attempted to complain to the dean of our faculty and we received no support from the senior management(this dean now no longer works here). I am currently on a placement and am due back shortly but I don't expect things to have changed and all this money that is going to be thrown at rebranding could certainly come in handy for not just myself but anyone studying in the computing field who feels let down and left behind by the met as it attempts to focus more and more upon business management, music and sport. You should also know that Leeds met has another reputation for its "IT excellence" people are beginning to hear the woes of students like me and shy away from your IT degrees in favour of universities that actually offer students practical work over theory that has been copied from the internet. I'm hoping for change upon my return but I just cant see it, and remember painting a wall only hides the cracks, they are sill there(or as some might say you can't polish a turd).
